DMAN in mourning for Ralf Othmer

Deutsche Management Akademie Niedersachsen (DMAN) is mourning the passing of its managing director Ralf Othmer. We will miss him deeply.

For more than twelve years, Ralf Othmer stood at the helm of DMAN in Celle. When he took charge of the academy in 2005, he brought extensive international experience, gained in senior positions at well-known IT companies and Deutsche Messe AG.

Ralf Othmer extended the strategic focus of DMAN to new target regions such as the Arab countries in Middle East & North Africa, Iran, India and Vietnam. He strengthened relations with China and tightened the long-term cooperation with Russian partners. Under his leadership, DMAN won international projects and was regularly involved in programmes run by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

Together with the employers' association NiedersachsenMetall, Ralf Othmer launched the "Celler Castle Talks" in 2013, a series of events which enjoy great popularity among regional enterprises. In his office in the castle tower and on numerous journeys, he met with business partners, economic delegations and politicians from many countries.

Ralf Othmer quickly earned the trust, recognition and respect of the academy’s employees, business partners and contacts in Germany and abroad. With a steady hand, the enthusiastic sailor navigated the academy through quiet and occasionally through stormy seas.

Though he had a keen sense of fairness and reconciliation, Ralf Othmer would never back away from conflicts that needed to be resolved before a goal could be achieved. He leaves DMAN well-prepared for the future.

Ralf Othmer has now lost his last battle. He died on 5 November, a few days before his 60th birthday, after a serious illness.

Employees and board members of Deutsche Management Akademie Niedersachsen are deeply affected by the news of his death. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathy are with his family and all who were close to him
